Get to Know the Shogun

Normandy Knives

Precision Forged for Modern Warriors

Some knives are tools. Others are statements. The Shogun is both—our most popular OTF, blending the refined aesthetics of Damascus steel with tactical readiness and everyday performance. Its curved blade nods to the legendary katana carried by Japanese feudal warriors, a design that symbolizes strength, precision, and discipline. If you want a knife that looks like fine craftsmanship but works like a serious tool, the Shogun delivers—uniting history, style, and modern functionality in one blade.

Why Choose the Shogun?

Showpiece & Conversation Starter

With it's samurai sword inspired design and Damascus styling, the Shogun is a conversation starter and sure to get a reaction.

Good Cutting Performance with Manageable Maintenance

The VG10 core and moderate hardness mean the blade can cut well, retain a sharp edge, but you won’t need constant, difficult sharpening. And its blade thickness gives durability.

Light Carry & Big Enough to Use

At ~2.6 oz and >9″ open, you get serious reach without a bulky or fat knife. For users who want a standout blade that doesn’t drag down their kit, this is a key balance.

Striking Visuals + Show Value

Damascus patterning doesn’t just look good—it signals craftsmanship. If you carry a Shogun, part of its value is the impression.

AESTHETICS

How often do I need to maintain (clean/sharpen)?

It depends on the use. For everyday carry & lighter tasks, a touch-up every once in a while should suffice; heavier cutting or abuse will require more frequent edge maintenance. Cleaning and drying after exposure to moisture is important to preserve the finish.

Is the Damascus during under tough use?

Yes — with caution. The VG10 core helps a lot. But Damascus is more decorative and layered, so edges may be more prone to wear, and patterning/coating may require additional care to keep looking good.

Is the hardness sufficient for hard tasks?

52-55 HRC is moderate — good for general work, slicing, everyday carry. If you need a knife for prying, chopping heavy materials, or beating up the blade, you might prefer a harder tool steel model.
