Get to Know the Trauma 1

Normandy Knives

Be Prepared for What Lies Ahead

In emergencies—on the road, at the dock, or in the wild—every second matters. The Trauma 1 (T1) from Normandy Knives is built as more than just a blade; it’s a patented, Normandy-exclusive rescue tool engineered for real-world situations. Its name is a nod to the “Trauma One” codes used by first responders, reinforcing its life-saving purpose. Equipped with a dedicated seat belt cutter and a uniquely sharp glassbreaker, the T1 is designed to help you act fast when it counts. Tough, versatile, and mission-driven, the Trauma 1 is a knife you can trust when safety is on the line.

Why Choose the Trauma 1?

Emergency Readiness

Whether you're first responder, outdoorsperson, or someone who drives off-road or has a UTV, the seat belt cutter and glass breaker features mean you have tools to act quickly in life-or-death situations.

Durability Under Stress

The D2 steel and tough build make the Trauma 1 reliable when other knives may fail (tip breakage, dull blade, corrosion etc.). You can count on it when you need it most.

Everyday Use + Emergency Utility

Though built for rescue, it’s not so specialized that it’s useless otherwise. The durable blade, and carry usability make it practical for work, travel, camping, etc.

Peace of Mind

Knowing the knife is backed by warranty, and has features built for safety, gives confidence both in owning it and in being prepared for unexpected events.

FIRST RESPONDER

Will the seatbelt cutter dull quickly?

The cutter is typically thin and exposed, so yes, with heavy/abrasive materials it may dull more quickly. But because it is built into the handle and designed for occasional rescue use, replacement or sharpening tends to be more straightforward (or it's used only when needed).

Is D2 steel harder to maintain (rust, sharpening)?

Yes, D2 is not stainless; it requires cleaning, drying, and occasional oiling. But its edge retention and toughness are worth the modest extra care, especially for rescue or regular use

How rugged is the glass breaker tip? Will it break if used on concrete or metal?

The tip is hardened for breaking tempered glass or emergency use, but it’s not indestructible. Extreme misuse (hammering metal, prying, etc.) can damage it. Use appropriately (glass, low-impact tasks) rather than abusing as a tool for everything
