Normandy Knives

Big Things Come in Small Packages

The Occam OTF from Normandy Knives is built on simplicity, strength, and usefulness—nothing more, nothing less. Its name comes from Occam’s Razor, the principle that the simplest solution with the fewest assumptions is usually the best. Just like the philosophy, this knife strips away the unnecessary and delivers exactly what matters: a tough, versatile tool ready for work, projects, or everyday carry.

Why Choose OCCAM?

Low Maintenance, High Replace-ability

Because of the interchangeable razor blade, you can swap in a new blade rather than sharpening; visible cost/effort is lower, blade quality stays high.

Light, Carry-friendly Tool You’ll Actually Use

A lot of utility knives are either clunky or too light/weak. Occam’s hits a sweet spot — solid presence in hand without feeling like carrying a brick.

Belt Clip & Versatility Across Environments

From indoor tasks (crafting, dry walling, packaging, detail work) to outdoor or prep situations (camp, emergency kit, field work), this knife adapts.

Compact & Safety and Access

The blade’s containment when retracted, coupled with the clip and lanyard options, makes it safer and more likely to be carried and kept accessible.

How often do I need to change the blade?

It depends on usage. For heavy use (cutting abrasive materials, frequent slicing), the blade will dull faster. For lighter, occasional use, you might change the blade less often. Since the razor blades are inexpensive, many users keep spares on hand.

Is the SK5 steel razor blade resistant to rust?

SK5 is a high-carbon steel with good hardness. Razor style blades are thin and may be more susceptible to corrosion than thicker stainless blades, so wiping dry, avoiding moisture accumulation, and perhaps a light protective oil will help.

Can I use the OCCAM in harsh conditions (outdoors, wet, etc.)?

Yes, but with awareness: the aluminum handle is rugged, and built solid. But razor steel and razor-edge blades are more delicate under abuse (bending, prying). Use for cutting/utility, not prying or chopping.
