What is OTF?
OTF(short forOut-The-Front) means the blade deploys and retracts straight out of the front of the handle with the push of a switch. Unlike folding knives, which swing open on a pivot, OTFs use a spring-loaded, double-action mechanism that makes them quick to deploy and easy to stow.
How does an OTF Work?
An OTF uses an internal spring system connected to a sliding switch. When you push the switch forward, the spring engages and drives the blade out of the handle. Pulling the switch back retracts the blade into the handle.
Most modern OTF knives are double-action, meaning the same switch controls both deployment and retraction. This allows for quick, one-handed operation with a smooth and controlled feel.
What Makes an OTF Unique?
Out, In, Out, In....
Fast, One-Handed Operation
OTF knives are designed for speed and simplicity. With a single thumb movement, the blade is ready instantly.
Compact and Discreet
Because the blade retracts fully into the handle, OTF knives are easy to carry and take up minimal space.
Modern Design and Engineering
The internal mechanism gives OTF knives a unique feel and precision that sets them apart from traditional knives.
Consistency and Control
Each deployment is smooth and repeatable, making it a reliable tool for everyday use.
